Happiness

Hey there! I know I have been posting a lot of older drawings, but don't let that fool you! I am still working busily on other stuff that I'm just not ready to leak to the public yet.

This is a tiny little sketch but I love it for it's simplicity. Happiness is a funny thing because when you are filled with happiness it is the most simple thing in the world, yet when you feel a little down it seems so difficult, and almost impossible to reach that state again. I drew this a couple of years ago to try and capture that feeling for times when I can't remember by myself. It's interesting too because several people have seen it and immediately can relate. I drew it not trying to copy any sort of zen or spiritual concepts, but to just try and express what calm and joy feels like to me visually. As a side note, this is how I feel when I draw.

On another relevant side note, here is the link to a very wonderful book that I did some of the illustrations for! It's on sale at amazon.com.

The Shaman's Tree by Robert Hoffman

It's a wonderful little book full of engaging and whimsical reflections on life and the spirituality of nature. I nearly flew through it when I first got my copy and upon my second perusal of the book there was more hidden wisdom lurking in the texts. The author's approach is very refreshing and I recommend it very highly!

The author has begun to host meetings for the community talking about healthy living. I have yet to make it to a meeting, but from what I gather he approaches the topic of health and happiness in a very holistic and complete way. Check it out! http://www.awakentrust.com/personal-health/
